Congratulations, UWGB!

September 28, 2023

Congratulations to the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay (UWGB) for receiving the CTIA Wireless Foundation Climate Changemaker Award.

This initiative allows UWGB to build their network of buoys in area waters, joining other partners who share their data with the Great Lakes Observatory System (GLOS). Currently, three entities have buoys in the Bay of Green Bay: UWGB, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, as well as NEW Water, which has two buoys as part of its Aquatic Monitoring Program, which helps inform permit compliance.

Sustain the Bay Award

September 28, 2023

July 19, 2023 - NEW Water, the brand of the Green Bay Metropolitan Sewerage District, has received a $1,000 award from the Sustain the Bay Fund within the Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region. This award will be used to print and install a large, full-color sign on the Soil Health Education and Demonstration (SHED) facility that is located on 30 acres of Oneida Nation tribal lands in the Town of Oneida in Outagamie County.

This NEW Water service you are paying for allows you to flush the toilet, take a shower, do dishes, do the laundry, and wash your hands whenever you like, day or night, every day of the year.

PFAS

April 4, 2023

In efforts to better understand this emerging contaminant, NEW Water initiated sampling at its Green Bay and De Pere facilities in March. NEW Water is working with a consultant on sampling method techniques, and to review the data. The data will be published on the NEW Water website on an annual basis after QA/QC (quality assurance / quality control). NEW Water is continuing to collaborate with industries on pollution prevention strategies, to more cost effectively address PFAS through source reduction. NEW Water will continue to monitor legislative and regulatory changes.
