NEW Water Executive Director Tom Sigmund was honored in a Congressional Record Presentation ceremony on September 1, 2023, at Green Isle Park, held by Congressman Mike Gallagher. Sigmund was recognized by Congressman Gallagher for his service to NEW Water, as President of the National Association of Clean Water Agencies (NACWA), and the clean water sector. Learn more >>

Congratulations, UWGB!

September 28, 2023

Congratulations to the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay (UWGB) for receiving the CTIA Wireless Foundation Climate Changemaker Award.

This initiative allows UWGB to build their network of buoys in area waters, joining other partners who share their data with the Great Lakes Observatory System (GLOS). Currently, three entities have buoys in the Bay of Green Bay: UWGB, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, as well as NEW Water, which has two buoys as part of its Aquatic Monitoring Program, which helps inform permit compliance.

Sustain the Bay Award

September 28, 2023

July 19, 2023 - NEW Water, the brand of the Green Bay Metropolitan Sewerage District, has received a $1,000 award from the Sustain the Bay Fund within the Community Foundation for the Fox Valley Region. This award will be used to print and install a large, full-color sign on the Soil Health Education and Demonstration (SHED) facility that is located on 30 acres of Oneida Nation tribal lands in the Town of Oneida in Outagamie County.

Enhancing green infrastructure

September 27, 2023

A second grant for trees for Northeast Wisconsin

NEW Water has been awarded a second grant from the U.S. Forest Service under the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative (GLRI) to plant nearly 1,900 trees. The effort supports water quality improvements by helping to capture stormwater runoff. Learn more about runoff here >>

Funding will be passed through to communities in NEW Water’s service area including Brown County, Allouez, Bellevue, De Pere, Green Bay, Hobart, Howard, Ledgeview, and Pulaski. In 2020, NEW Water received a grant to plant 1,700 trees.

For the 2023 budget, a typical family cost for NEW Water’s services increased from 2022 by about 6.1% to $24.40 per month*. This NEW Water service you are paying for allows you to flush the toilet, take a shower, do dishes, do the laundry, and wash your hands whenever you like, day or night, every day of the year.

For the 8th year of the STEAM Superheroes Camp, NEW Water, the brand of the Green Bay Metropolitan Sewerage District, teamed up with the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Green Bay (BGCGB) and the Einstein Project to inspire area youth to care about our most valuable resource, water with interactive, educational, and hands-on activities.
