NEW Water receives Wisconsin Coastal Management Grant

September 17, 2024

NEW Water will receive grant funding from the Wisconsin Coastal Management Program to support educational outreach initiatives to increase awareness about Harmful Algal Blooms (HABs). Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers announced the grants for coastal communities to “support quality of life, foster economic development, protect and improve the Great Lakes resources, and create resiliency in Wisconsin’s coastal communities.”

This year, the camp wasn’t just about learning – it was about battling the forces of villainy to protect and educate kids about our most valuable resource, water.

Capital Project Updates: Highlight

July 24, 2024

Green Bay Facility North Plant Clarifier Rehabilitation, estimated: $41M.

The first of 12 clarifiers has been turned over to the contractor; expected completion is 2026. NEW Water’s clarifiers, or large basins, have been in continuous operation since 1975, each holds about a million gallons of wastewater, and facilitate a critical step in cleaning water for our community. The project is part of our Facility Plan, which outlines upgrade and renewal needs to allow NEW Water to continue to provide reliable service to our community.

Annual data summary

NEW Water PFAS sample collection summary (Green Bay and De Pere Treatment facilities)

As part of our ongoing pollution prevention efforts, NEW Water voluntarily began sampling at its two treatment facilities in the spring of 2023. NEW Water is not currently subject to PFAS surface water criteria or monitoring requirements. After a Quality Assurance Review, an annual data summary has been compiled.
