In Honor of Dr. Harold “Jack” Day

We are saddened to share the news that Dr. Harold “Jack” Day, NEW Water former Commissioner, passed away on August 31. Dr. Day was Professor Emeritus of University of Wisconsin-Green Bay and served as both Commissioner and later Commission President at NEW Water. Dr. Day was a true visionary, deeply passionate about protecting water.

Elected Officials_q3 2025Elected officials visit NEW Water

NEW Water continues to connect with area elected officials to share more about our operations and build strong community partnerships. Recent visits to our facility included Wisconsin State Senator André Jacque, State Representative David Steffen, State Representative Elijah Behnke, and State Representative Ryan Spaude. We appreciate their interest and the time each took to learn about the essential services NEW Water provides every day.


PFAS

The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and the Department of Health Services issued consumption warnings for waterfowl, which can be found here. This underscores the importance of NEW Water’s continued efforts to partner on pollution prevention efforts, during the onramp to upcoming regulations, for a more cost-effective, sustainable approaches to this emerging contaminant.

Clean Water Fund Program

NEW Water has been busy advocating for support of the Clean Water Fund Program, to offset costs for Northeast Wisconsin families and businesses. NEW Water has joined the National Association of Clean Water Agencies as well as a consortium of partners in Wisconsin to ensure continuation of these critical funds, which lower financing costs for critical infrastructure projects.

Group PhotoSTEAM Superheroes Camp

NEW Water hosted an annual STEAM Superheroes Camp in partnership with the Green Bay Area Boys & Girls Club. New “Defenders of the Bay” were onboarded, to help protect area waters.

What's New at NEW Water

Downtown Interceptors Renewal Project (DIRP). NEW Water continues renewing critical infrastructure to ensure reliable service to our community. Learn more about the project here >>

Facility Plan: De Pere Facility. As part of our Facility Plan, upgrades are being made to the Pumping & Headworks systems at the De Pere Facility. This project will replace aging equipment used for pumping, screening, and grit removal. Learn more about the project here >>

Municipal & Industrial Partner Meeting. NEW Water held a meeting on September 17 with a Budget focus – a “Budget 101” as well as a look at the draft 2026 Budget. Check out the presentation here >>
