# **Strategic vision for a sustainable future**

With many vexing water issues facing our era, our community, and our utility, NEW Water aims to factor the triple bottom line into decisions for a more sustainable future.

NEW Water sustainability initiatives include Lean projects that streamline operations and lower costs; reusing water at our facilities to save costs and conserve water; producing nearly 40% our own electricity at our Green Bay Facility from materials that would have otherwise been considered a waste; and watershed work designed to improve water quality, and achieve permit compliance at the lowest cost.

As we strive to be a [**Utility of the Future**,](https://www.nacwa.org/about-us/awards/uotft) we will incorporate principles of sustainability into our approach to financial and environmental stewardship, as we continue to provide an essential service to protect public health for the community we serve.
