How much do I pay for NEW Water’s services?
For the 2023 budget, a typical family cost for NEW Water’s services increased from 2022 by about 6.1% to $24.40 per month*. This NEW Water service you are paying for allows you to flush the toilet, take a shower, do dishes, do the laundry, and wash your hands whenever you like, day or night, every day of the year.
It is important to note that NEW Water is a wholesale provider of wastewater treatment and conveyance services to 15 municipal customers; NEW Water does not bill residents directly.
Some municipalities may experience greater costs if they send NEW Water more wastewater to be treated, which is "flows and loads," or gallons of wastewater, or pounds of pollution. If you have questions about your bill, please contact your municipality.
Each of NEW Water’s 15 municipalities is different; some municipalities have many industries, while some have none. Some municipalities are experiencing significant growth with new developments, which require additional wastewater treatment services, and increases the cost. Each municipality calculates their bills according to the wastewater services they require for their residents, businesses, and industries.
There is a significant difference between “residential” and “industrial” wastewater. Residential wastewater, as in what’s flushed down the toilet or poured down the sink of your home, is fairly standard as far as treatment processes are concerned, as it’s relatively predictable. Industrial wastewater, however, requires more stringent processing, as there are more types of pollutants and in far greater quantity.
