Statement from National Association of Clean Water Agencies (NACWA) CEO applauds award winners’ dedication to operational excellence

(Washington, D.C.) – On October 28, in a live presentation ceremony recorded in Washington, D.C., the National Association of Clean Water Agencies (NACWA) presented NEW Water, the brand of the Green Bay Metropolitan Sewerage District with one of this year’s NACWA Peak Performance Awards. This annual award is presented to honorees who have achieved excellence in operational performance and permit compliance.

Adam Krantz, Chief Executive Officer of NACWA, congratulates this year’s honorees, noting:

“Our public utility members are the backbone of the communities they serve, providing safe, reliable access to clean water services day-in and day-out. The Peak Performance Award ceremony is our chance to shine a national spotlight on those outstanding clean water utilities that have demonstrated operational excellence with no more than five permit violations in a calendar year, and, for our Gold and Platinum Award winners, zero violations.”

NEW Water received a Platinum Award for 17 consecutive years of 100% permit compliance at its Green Bay Facility, and a Gold Award for 8 consecutive years at the De Pere Facility. In 2019, NEW Water cleaned approximately 18,151,990,000 gallons of water for the families, businesses, and industries that rely on this 24-7-365 essential service.

“We’re honored to accept this acknowledgement from our peers in the clean water sector. The NEW Water team continues to rise to and overcome the challenges thrown our way, in order to protect public health in our community, around the clock,” said Executive Director, Tom Sigmund.

Added Mr. Krantz: “These utilities represent the top performers in the whole country and go above and beyond in their mission to protect public health and the environment. On behalf of NACWA’s Board of Directors, I extend my congratulations and gratitude to all this year’s award winners and I thank them for their service and their incredible compliance with increasingly rigid Clean Water Act standards. This year has seen unprecedented challenges in the wake of the pandemic, and the Peak Performance Award winners have more than risen to the occasion.”
