Nearly a year after its launch, the NEW Watershed Program has implemented more than 20 constructed conservation practices and 4,663 acres of annual operational practices in the rural areas of Ashwaubenon Creek and Dutchman Creek watersheds.

The NEW Watershed Program was officially launched October 20, 2021. The program is working towards permit compliance with the newest Wisconsin Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (WPDES) permit which began April 1, 2022. Since the program started, the team has implemented over 20 constructed conservation practices and over 4,663 acres of annual operational practices in the rural areas of Ashwaubenon Creek and Dutchman Creek watersheds. The NEW Watershed Program has continued to work with Brown and Outagamie Counties, Oneida Nation, Fox Demo Farms, the Austin Straubel International Airport, and the Wisconsin Department of Transportation on collaborations to reduce excess phosphorus and sediment from getting into our impaired waterways. “By working together, the communities NEW Water serves can achieve greater environmental benefit, more cost effectively,” said Erin Houghton, Watershed Program Manager.
