Water Quality Data

Water quality data to help understand our waterways

NEW Water is excited to bring two long-term monitoring stations into a new era of (near) real-time data collection to help tell the story about water quality and aid in understanding our waters.

Please note: Data platforms shown below are being pulled directly from Great Lakes Observing System (GLOS) Seagull platform page

Fox River

Situated at the mouth of the Fox River, an important confluence of water from the river depositing into lower Green Bay, is the first long-term monitoring station. Aided by a mini-grant from GLOS, the Fox River station, established in the early 1990's, is now online with data collection in (near) real-time. This site collects data approximately May through October, measuring parameters such as water temperature, dissolved oxygen, and chlorophyll from the surface of the water as well as the bottom of the water column. The mini-grant also provided funding to add a weather station and equipment to measure phosphate, an important nutrient of interest, to the station.

Green Bay Entrance Light

Situated seven miles north of the mouth of the Fox River in lower Green Bay is a yellow buoy. This site collects data approximately May through October, measuring parameters such water temperature, dissolved oxygen, and chlorophyll from the surface of the water as well as the bottom of the water column. This buoy is also equipped with a weather station.
