STEAM Superheroes suit up to protect the Bay once again.
The next generation of water protectors rose to the challenge at the 2025 STEAM Superheroes Camp, hosted by NEW Water, the brand of the Green Bay Metropolitan Sewerage District, in partnership with the Boys & Girls Club of Greater Green Bay. The camp was a two-day event that gave local youth a chance to explore the wonders of water while stepping into the roles of superheroes to help to defend area waterways.
Back for its tenth year, STEAM Superheroes Camp transformed learning into an assortment of fun-filled hands-on activities around STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math). NEW Water staff again played the roles of the STEAM Superheroes, Commander CleanWater and Watershed Warrior, who guided the campers as they learned how their everyday actions affect our waterways. The campers followed the journey of water from their homes to the Fox River, to the Bay of Green Bay, and ultimately to Lake Michigan, discovering the importance of protecting this precious resource. By the end of the camp, 14 campers earned their official “Defender of the Bay” certificates.
“It was a really good experience to be at NEW Water. I learned a lot and liked all the activities,” said Jacquien.
“I really liked chasing the bad villains around. I liked all the science activities,” said Sophia.
