Launched!

NEW Water’s Resource Recovery and Electrical Energy (R2E2) Project construction has launched! NEW Water is on the path toward resource recovery. The new solids handling facility will harness materials sent to the facility to generate electricity, heat, reduce costs, and create a fertilizer to bring in additional revenue.

Going Green for Blue!

In efforts to meet new phosphorus discharge permit limits, NEW Water is working on a pilot project to improve land management practices in Silver Creek, a 4,800-acre area within the Fox River watershed.  Soil sampling has been completed, field walks were conducted over the summer, and implementation of conservation practices has begun.  In this photo, the green strip on the right will be converted into a “concentrated flow channel,” and will remain in permanent vegetation.  “So what, you may ask?” says Environmental Programs Director Bill Hafs.  “This practice will reduce sediment and phosphorus runoff, and lead to cleaner waterways.”
