Take a Tour

Learn what happens to water after it is used and how it's recycled by touring the third largest wastewater treatment plant in the state of Wisconsin for free.

Scheduling

All tours must be scheduled a minimum of 2 weeks in advance. Unscheduled, drop-in tours will not be conducted. To schedule a tour, fill out the tour request form and we will be in contact to confirm the tour. We can customize our tours for the needs of each group, so please let us know if you have any specific focus.

Length of Tour

A typical tour will last approximately 1½ hours. However, the tour length can be flexible depending on your group’s schedule and interests. Tours are offered Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. (the last tour slot of the day possible, per availability and scheduling, would begin at 2:30 p.m.)

What to Wear

Prior to arriving, please ensure that all group members are in the appropriate attire. Closed-toe, sturdy, flat soled shoes and long pants are required of all participants. If these items are not worn, participants will not be able to go on the tour, and may be asked to leave.

Wear comfortable attire as there will be a considerable amount of walking and stairs, though accommodations can be made, with advance notice, for visitors with any special needs. Unfortunately, the tour is not wheelchair accessible.

Tour groups will spend about half of their time indoors and half outdoors, so appropriate dress for the weather is recommended.

Group Sizes

Maximum: We can accommodate up to 30 people in a tour. To keep tour group sizes manageable and to help ensure adequate supervision of groups, large groups will be divided into smaller groups.

Minimum: Tour groups of 5 or more people are recommended. We try to accommodate all tour requests, so individual tour requests may need to be flexible on the date and time of the tour as we will combine with other tour groups.

Age Groups

For safety reasons, we limit our facility tour to: Civic groups: High School students and older Club groups: 12 years and older

The safety and security of our visitors and our employees is of utmost concern. All visitors are expected to abide by our safety instructions and policies. NEW Water reserves the right to approve any tour group and cancel tours at any time if any safety concerns arise.
