GBMSD is a wastewater treatment facility. Stormwater is not treated in the Green Bay area. Because of this, it is important that everyone is aware of the harmful contaminents that can be found in Stormwater, as well as pollution prevention tips to ensure our waterways stay clean. Below are stormwater facts, tips, and ways to get involved throughout your community.

  • Soil particles

  • Fertilizer (Phosphorus and Nitrogen)

 Effects of Excess Contaminants
  • Deformities in aquatic species
  • Unsafe use for recreation (excess bacteria can cause illness in humans and other species)
  • Cause algae blooms and fish kills

Pollution Prevention Tips for Your Home
  • Keep up on car maintenance
  • Wash your car on the lawn or at a car wash
  • Pick up after your pet
  • Don't over fertilize your lawn
  • Take your paints, chemicals, etc. to Brown County's Household Hazardous Waste Facility for proper disposal

What Can You Do??? GET INVOLVED!!
  • Adopt a Stormdrain in your community to keep it clean
  • Participate in Stormdrain Stenciling that marks stormdrains with sayings like "Dump No Waste, Drains to River" and "Dump No Waste, Drains to Lake".
