Mission

The mission of the Green Bay Metropolitan Sewerage District is to promote public health and welfare through the collection, treatment, and reclamation of wastewater, while assessing stable, competitive rates. In conjunction with others, the organization will encourage pollution prevention and support programs to help ensure water contaminated by human activity is returned clean to the environment.

General Information

The Green Bay Metropolitan Sewerage District is a single-purpose government utility that reclaims water and promotes pollution prevention and water conservation.

The Green Bay Metropolitan Sewerage District owns and operates two wastewater treatment facilities in Green Bay and De Pere, WI.

GBMSD Customers

The Green Bay Metropolitan Sewerage District serves over 217,000 residents in a 285 square mile area.  Customers include the Cities of Green Bay and De Pere; the Villages of Allouez, Ashwaubenon, Bellevue, Hobart, Howard, Luxemburg, and Pulaski; the Towns of Green Bay, Humboldt, Lawrence, Ledgeview, Pittsfield, Red River, Scott, and Suamico. Procter & Gamble Paper Products Company is a contract customer.

Average volume of wastewater treated daily

The Green Bay Metropolitan Sewerage District collects and treats an average of 38 million gallons a day (mgd) from the Green Bay facility (30 mgd) and De Pere facility (8 mgd), removing more than 97 percent of its pollutants.
